The San Rafael Swell is a kidney-shaped up thrust of about 900 square miles of desert, domes, steep ridges, and canyons, almost entirely within Emery County. The roadway from the top to the bottom cuts though this large area. It is almost un-believable at the size of the reef, as it stretches for miles across the desert floor.
